At Vigilant Watch Inc., we dedicate ourselves each and every day to support our First Responders who work to ensure the safety and security of the residents of Hampton Roads & the Eastern Shore of Virginia. We view it as an honor to support Fire, Police, EMS and Sheriffs and their immediate families who have suffered a hardship based on injury, illness, or catastrophic event, which has created a financial and physical hardship.

Because First Responders work so hard to keep you safe, we seize any opportunity to showcase their abilities, and we want to thank all of our wonderful friends and partners in the community for coming out to the 2017 Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge at Mount Trashmore in Virginia Beach!

This international competition amongst colleagues in the Fire Service community was presented by Stihl, Inc., supported by The City of Virginia Beach, and the Virginia Beach Fire Department, and sponsored by Vigilant Watch, Inc. Spectators watched as the dedicated Firefighters donned their gear and completed Firefighting related tasks and challenges.

Some of these “real world” tasks included racing up a 5-story tower carrying a 43-pound hoseload, hand-over-hand rope raise of a donut roll of hose, simulated forced entry using a sledgehammer to move a weight along a sliding track, advancing a charged hoseline 170 feet and dragging a 175-lb “Rescue Randy” by the upper torso to the finish line.

Challenges of the obstacle course included a Firefighter’s carry (dragging a 175-lb “rescue randy” mannequin by the upper torso), race up a 5-story tower, hand-over-hand rope raise, simulated forced entry (using a sledgehammer to move a weight along a sliding track) and more.

Firefighters from the United States, Candad, & Kuwait put on a great show, and we couldn’t be more proud of all our participants!

Before the competition began, Vigilant Watch, Inc. was honored to receive a very generous donation from several Mission BBQ locations in Hampton Roads, a huge supporter of First Responders – and of course, the best BBQ in town.

It was a wonderful weekend of fun, strength, and support. Thank you Hampton Roads!
